Born in India and raised in the UAE, Kajal (she/her) is a migrant South-Asian Lettering Artist, Illustrator and Muralist based in Naarm (Melbourne). Her creations can be described as bold and colorful with playful elements and loves creating letters. Her work is reflective of her own experiences, feelings, journey with identity & belonging, and conversations that spark her creativity. Despite being a Monash University graduate in engineering, she enjoys exploring her creative side and thinks of her work as her personal journey towards self-exploration, learning and unlearning and using art as a tool to speak up on topics she’s passionate about. Kajal has worked with several local businesses on product design projects and collaborations, owns a small business “Handlettered By Kajal”, was a visual contributor for Monash University’s Lot’s Wife Magazine and is currently a Youth Curator at SIGNAL. Moving forwards, she hopes to bring her imagination to life through art installations and murals.
